Apathy is Lethal – The United Nations Foundation, in cooperation with the Ad Council, launched an advertising campaign intended to raise the public’s awareness of the worldwide AIDS epidemic and encourage people to become involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Rafiki Project is a unique effort joining the resources of numerous charitable organizations and individuals. The project grew out of a need to care for children left behind by parents taken by the devastating AIDS epidemic. Conceived in 2004 by John Nganga, the Rafiki Orphanage opened its doors to these children, providing food, shelter and education.

The AIDS in Africa statistics become more thought provoking every year as the disease still continues to ravage the population. Although AIDS in Africa statistics show that the overall prevalence of HIV is lower and seems to have declined slightly since the year 2000, the number of people in the country with the disease tends to rise.
